Everglades University Defeated

At the Tuesday August 27 Board of County Commissioners Meeting, the Everglades University request to vacate a right of way through the middle of their 9-acre parcel of land was denied. At their pre application meeting one year ago, they stated that their plan is to build a 40,000 sq ft office building to house 1,500 students plus faculty at a site just south of the animal clinic on EE Williamson west of I-4. 15 homeowners showed up to protest and the request was denied. The right of way was a remnant of Toula Ave which was cut off by the I 4 construction. However, it is contingent to the bike path and could be used as a parking or picnic area. The commissioners were responsive to our request that this was a bad site for a 40,000 sq ft office building. We will continue to monitor their plans.
